IRF Rehabilitation Inpatient Acute Rehabilitation Facilities at Whittier deliver high-intensity rehabilitation for individuals requiring structured recovery programs. We emphasize functional mobility and activities of daily living to strengthen independence. Our coordinated interdisciplinary team develops individualized treatment plans for each patient. The goal is to support safe transition from inpatient care to home and community settings.
Long-Term Acute Care Individuals transferred to LTAC facilities arrive from hospitals where acute care stays are often short in duration. They present with both chronic and complex acute medical needs requiring prolonged treatment. Our team delivers continuous care that addresses conditions not quickly managed in other healthcare settings. Rehabilitation services are integrated to support progression toward eventual discharge and recovery.
Outpatient Rehabilitation Services We recognize that selecting outpatient rehabilitation care is an important decision, and we provide services designed to support that choice. We offer individualized therapy, convenient scheduling, and timely evaluations for every patient. Our outpatient centers include expansive rehabilitation gyms with state-of-the-art equipment and therapeutic pools. We also incorporate multidisciplinary expertise, real-world training, and advanced technologies to enhance recovery.
Physical Therapy We offer Physical Therapy services aimed at improving movement efficiency and patient safety. Each treatment plan is tailored after a detailed initial assessment and goal setting process. Our team focuses on enhancing flexibility, strength, and coordination while minimizing pain and limitations. We integrate education and therapeutic strategies to help patients achieve optimal functional outcomes.
Prosthetics & Orthotics Through partnership with Cornell Orthotics & Prosthetics, we provide Prosthetics & Orthotics services that include individualized evaluations and custom solutions for prosthetic limbs and orthopedic bracing. Weekly clinics support individuals with amputations in regaining functional mobility. I had an exceptional experience while a patient at Whittier rehabilitation. I came to Whittier after a laminectomy during cancer treatment. I was in a hospital bed for 28 days. One of the highlights of my stay was working with Dorothy Jordan. Dorothy diagnosed my beta blockers/heart meds were causing me to pass out. She spent a day filling me with fluids while I spent the day inverted to clear my body of the beta blockers. I cant thank her enough for her care and compassion. In addition the PT/OT staff went above and beyond to get me back on my feet. The inpatient and outpatient PT staff are exceptional. I am 18 months out from my initial stay and back at a second round of PT/OT. I am so grateful for the efforts of the entire staff. Each staff member has read my chart before treatment and pushes me a little further each session. The entire staff and reception area folks are caring and compassionate and so knowledgeable. The fall that paralyzed my left side and subsequent laminectomy that brought me to Whittier had me questioning would I ever return to being functional. It is my belief that when I finish this second round of PT/OT I will be back to my pre fall self. I am blessed to have the Whittier Staff working with me.

Outstanding in every way. Our son was there for a month and the tremendous staff at Whittier got him from bedridden to safely mobile. The place is spotless, the food was excellent, and the overall experience was great. If you or a loved one must have rehab, this is the place!

Okay, listen the humans here come out healthier, happier, and walking straighter than ever. The staff are basically wizards in scrubs: kind, attentive, and always ready with encouragement and snacks (for them, not for dogs, unfortunately). If only dogs were allowed inside

But the yard? A masterpiece. Grassy, peaceful, full of sunshine and perfect for chasing tennis balls, contemplating life, squirrels, and injustice.

So yes 10/10 place for humans in recovery. But until they install a four-paw guest policy, Ill be outside, wagging in protest.

My 91 year old mother spent two weeks at Whittier after having surgery for an obstructed bowel. She got excellent care from the nursing staff regarding her incision, physical and occupational therapy that helped her get stronger and manage her own care too! She is now home and feeling better every day!

My brother was at Whittier in Bradford. The nurses, PT, nutritionist & Dr Pant & Dr Lynn were amazing! Such great care. They understood my brother was near passing & I did not want my brother moved. We had hospice care along with the staff at Whittier. I am very happy he passed away in peace. Thank you again for the great care & compassion.

I have never been in a rehabilitation hospital before my experience at Whittier following a stroke that needless to say was shocking to myself and my family. I had no idea what to expect accept I knew how deeply I wanted to get better. Whittier met and exceeded those hopes. I cannot say enough about how fabulous and amazing their PT and OT personnel are. There was never a boring or routine day. Every day brought new ways to help in my reaching goals I never thought Id be able to do again. Id finish sessions with amazed joy and sense of such blessings for my therapists. I HIGHLY recommend Whittier for their stroke recovery program as well as all other serious recoverys from acute illnesses. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Meg and Meghan and all staff at Whittier!!! Now I begin my out patient rehabilitation at, of course, Whittier.
