Born on an Air Force Base in Puerto Rico to parents that worked for the Department of Defense (DOD), she spent her childhood in a foreign country for 8 1/2 - 9 months out of every year including Japan, Philippines, and the United Kingdom.
Her parents felt traveling provided an education in and of itself and she had the fortune of traveling the world- Europe, Asia, and Russia.

Since the age of 14 he wanted to become a craniofacial surgeon to perform complex facial reconstructive surgery.
He earned his BA from the University of Vermont, Doctorate of Dental Surgery in Baltimore, Maryland and then attended UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX earning his Medial Degree in 1998.
While at Parkland Hospital, Dr. Carlotti completed his residency training in Maxillofacial Surgery and then completed a one year fellowship in Cosmetic Surgery.
