Highlights

read more › I've had several facial rejuvenation procedures by Dr. Olding over the last 7 years and they have all been excellent. In every instance, Dr. Olding listened carefully to what I wanted done and he provided good feedback on what he would recommend. He's very easy to speak with, very friendly and kind, as is all his staff. Previously, I had a procedure done in Los Angeles, so I have a good basis for comparison. Dr. Olding is, by far, better. No scarring soon after surgery; a very natural look; and 15 to 20 years younger looking!

read more › Our plastic surgery facility in Washington, DC, is dedicated to helping patients look and feel their absolute best with advanced cosmetic services. Patients experiencing the early signs of aging such as wrinkles, fine lines, and loose, saggy skin can reclaim their youthful appearance with a facelift procedure. A facelift, or rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure to improve visual signs of aging of the face and neck. As people age, the skin and muscles of the face region begin to lose tone. A facelift improves the sagging facial skin, jowls, and loose neck skin by lifting the soft tissues.

read more › The early signs of aging will appear in many different forms as you get older. One area where it begins to appear prominently over the course of time is the neck. Eventually, the neck will become covered in wrinkles, deep folds, and saggy skin. The only way to get rid of these issues and rejuvenate one's youthful appearance is through a neck lift surgery performed by Dr. Michael Olding in Washington, DC. A neck lift is a surgical procedure to improve visible signs of aging on the neck. It is not a direct excision neck lift (see Male Aesthetic Procedures).

read more › Eyelid surgery, an eye lift or blepharoplasty corrects excess upper eyelid skin and puffy bags below the eyes by removing excess skin and/or fat and muscle. It can diminish the look of loose skin and bagginess in the eyelid region. The procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis, and many upper eyelid-only procedures can be done in the doctor's office under total local anesthesia, so it is important to have someone available to help you home after the surgery is completed. The surgery will take about two hours.

read more › Dysport injections (abobotulinumtoxinA) are used to treat facial wrinkles and neck bands caused by specific muscle groups. They relax muscles across the forehead or around the eyes or mouth to smooth wrinkles and fine lines. The injections are delivered in the doctor's office, and the recovery is immediate. The results generally last for approximately three to six months. Dr. Olding will usually have his patients return for a follow-up visit a week or so after their first injection for a quick touch-up.

The implant is placed directly against your existing chin bone to enlarge and shape the chin, improving the contours of your chin, neck and jawline, and making the face more "harmonious." Although silicone implants (Silastic) used to be utilized, they caused problems with "warping" and erosion into the bone. Today, Dr. Olding uses a high-density polyethylene fabricated material (MEDPOR) that is customized for each patient.

read more › It is generally performed as an outpatient procedure and can be performed with techniques that infuse targeted fat cells with a solution to reduce post-operative bruising and swelling. Patients usually return to work in one to two weeks, and back to strenuous activity within a month. Results are permanent. I've had several facial rejuvenation procedures by Dr. Olding over the last 7 years and they have all been excellent. In every instance, Dr. Olding listened carefully to what I wanted done and he provided good feedback on what he would recommend.

read more › Fat injections offer a potentially permanent solution for people who want to plump cheeks and lips, or to fill lines and wrinkles on the face. Your own fat is used to improve the appearance of the face or body by removing excess fat from an area of the body where it is less needed. Fat cells are removed via liposuction, then purified by the doctor. They are transplanted to desired areas with a series of injections. The effect of fat injections can last as little as a few months or up to one year.

There is no "universal" type of nasal surgery that will meet the needs of every patient, so the procedure is customized for each of Dr. Olding's patients individually, depending on your needs and expectations. The rhinoplasty procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, and patients usually return to work and strenuous activity within 2 weeks.

It can be done to enhance your body contour if you feel that your breasts are too small, to balance the proportions of your body when there is a significant difference between the sizes of your breasts, and for a number of other medical and personal reasons. It is your decision whether to use saline or silicone implants; however, many of our patients choose silicone gel implants due to their similar feel to natural breasts.

read more › Have your once perky breasts developed a saggy appearance that you just can't stand? A lot of women experience this problem as they get older, but there are other factors that contribute to it as well. Thankfully, you don't have to live with these changes forever. Thanks to breast lift surgery, you can rejuvenate your youthful contours and reclaim your once perky breasts. A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure designed to raise and reshape sagging breasts. Factors such as pregnancy, nursing, weight change, aging and gravity produce changes in the appearance of a woman's breasts, and as the skin becomes less elastic over time, the breasts often lose their shape and begin to sag.

read more › For patients with sagging breasts and loss of volume, a combination procedure (breast lift and augmentation) can be performed at the same time, thus limiting the postoperative recovery period. It is more complex than either procedure performed separately, but is commonly performed as part of a "mommy makeover." Following pregnancy and breastfeeding, the skin sags and the breast can decrease in volume, thus the need for both procedures. A breast lift with augmentation surgery is a combination procedure that allows a woman to gain the aesthetic benefits from both a breast lift and breast augmentation in one comprehensive surgery.

read more › A breast reduction, or reduction mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure to make your breasts smaller, lighter, and firmer. It is often performed for relief of back, neck, and shoulder pain, and skin irritation as a result of the weight and size of a woman's breasts. Breast reduction involves the removal of fat, glandular tissue, and skin from your breasts. Having large breasts can trigger a condition known as macromastia. Women suffering from it experience extreme pressure on the shoulders, neck, and spine.

read more › Tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a term applied to a variety of procedures that remove skin and fat and re-contour the body from the ribs to the pubic bone. Most commonly it is used to reverse the effects that aging, pregnancy, or significant fluctuations in weight can have on the skin and muscles of the abdomen. Some approaches remove only excess skin and fat; most also tighten the muscles of the belly. The larger the amount of skin to be removed, the longer the incision. In some cases, a new belly button is repositioned (a "standard" abdominoplasty) and the muscles tightened.

read more › Abdominal liposuction, or suction-assisted lipectomy, is a surgical procedure that removes unwanted deposits of fat from the abdomen and often associated flanks, hip and thigh. It improves body shape by removing fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise. The procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis. Patients generally return to work and to strenuous activity within two weeks. Dr. Olding will examine you to determine if you are a candidate for liposuction only, or if removal of skin is also required.

read more › Often thought of as an extended or circumferential (i.e., cut all the way around) abdominoplasty, it incorporates several different surgical approaches to re-contouring the area around the waist. It is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fatty tissue from the middle and lower abdomen, outer thighs, back, and buttocks, and to tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall. There are a number of different techniques used for a body lift, and Dr. Olding will work with you to determine which option is best for you.

read more › Having a child can be the most exciting time in your life, but you devote so much of your time and energy to your children that you can too easily sacrifice your own wellbeing. Childbearing can leave unwanted effects on your body, such as deflated, sagging breasts, stretched-out, excess abdominal skin, and fat that is entirely resistant to diet and exercise. A positive self-image can benefit mommy and the entire family. Dr. Michael Olding understands this, and has worked with many women who want their bodies to look more like they did before pregnancy.
