Being board certified in two fields allows me to have a perspective regarding providing the highest standards of care to my patients. Plastic surgery is a process that involves the patient along with the physician in deciding the best course of treatment. I am a full time member of the academic staff at my hospital and in national organizations for plastic surgery.

read more › In recent years cosmetic surgery of the face has seen much advancement which has resulted in a broader range of facial surgical options. There are a variety of facial surgery and rejuvenation options available to enhance the natural beauty of your face. These can be discussed during your initial consultation.

read more › A Facelift (Rhytidectomy), from Lin Plastic Surgery in Boston, is a surgical procedure designed to counteract the effects of aging, exposure to the sun or gravity providing a fresh, youthful appearance. This procedure involves tightening of the facial and neck skin as well as removal of excess fat deposits. This procedure may be performed in conjunction with other facial cosmetic procedures to optimize the aesthetic outcome. Small incisions are made just inside the hairline, along the contour in front of the ear, and extending under the earlobe to the backside of the ear and lower scalp.

read more › Dr. Lin utilizes two methods for his neck lift procedures, depending on the degree of change you want to see in your neck and chin area. These can be added to any facelift procedure, making for a single recovery. Traditional neck lift - A traditional neck lift incision originates below the sideburn area and continues down below the ear, terminating in the hair at the back of the scalp. The skin is pulled away and the fat is usually re-sculpted or redistributed, particularly from the jowls. Usually the platysma muscle (which runs from the upper parts of the pectoral and deltoid muscles all the way up onto the jaw) is tightened.

read more › Our eyelids have some of the thinnest skin found anywhere on the human body. While this has the benefit of enabling easy, efficient movement, it also contributes to our eyes being the first area on our face to show signs of aging. Of course, it doesn't help that our eyes are continually exposed to the sun and the elements. Couple that with our natural decline in collagen production and you have the perfect recipe for sagging eyelids, puffy under eye skin, and an appearance that can be years older than your actual age.

read more › As one of the few double-board certified surgeons in both Plastic Surgery (focused on changing the appearance of the nose) and Otolaryngology (functional nasal surgery, Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery) Dr. Samuel Lin continues to be able to positively change the shape of one's nose while improving and preserving the nasal function and breathing for patients near Boston. By specializing in nose reshaping, Dr. Lin can help patients that suffer from a deviated septum, have trouble breathing through their nose, and individuals that are interested in changing the appearance of their nose even from a previous Boston nose job.

read more › Surgery of the ear, also referred to as otoplasty, is a procedure that helps to reduce protrusion of the ear away from the head. The premise of this procedure is bringing the ears closer to the head. This procedure is commonly performed but is not limited to children. For ear pinning with younger patients, Dr. Lin usually opts for general anesthesia to alleviate nervousness. For adults, local anesthesia is sufficient in most cases. Dr. Lin begins by making a small incision behind the ear in the crease where the ear meets the head.

read more › Chin and cheek implants are an excellent means of enhancing the facial profile Chin implants (mentoplasty) function to shape and contour the symmetry of the face. Cheek implants (malarplasty), otherwise known as malar (high cheek) or submalar (low cheek) augmentation, can add fullness and definition to the face. Chin surgery is commonly performed in conjunction with rhinoplasty (nose surgery). Cheek surgery is often performed along with a facelift procedure. There aren't any definite reasons a person would look to have their chin and cheeks augmented by these surgeries with Dr. Lin or a plastic surgeon.

read more › Dr. Lin has years of experience with various types of breast surgeries. Some of these, such as breast augmentation and breast lifts, are typically cosmetic choices to increase the size, shape, and profile of your breasts (augmentation) or to return the breasts to a higher position on the chest after sagging caused by natural aging and/or pregnancy and breastfeeding (breast lift). Other breast surgeries are geared toward improving the patient's quality of life. If the patient's breasts are overly large to the degree that they cause issues with back and neck pain, posture problems, even chafing, reducing their size through surgery (breast reduction) can change the patient's life and improve self-esteem and a patient's daily routine.

read more › When women feel their breasts are either disproportionally small for their figure, are unhappy with the shape, have lost volume due to weight loss or breastfeeding, or simply would like to have larger breasts, breast augmentation can feel a boost in self-confidence and a serious change in body image. Dr. Lin performs breast augmentation with either saline or silicone implants. There is a great deal of giving and take between surgeon and patient as there are many decisions to make: implant type, implant size (measured in CCs of filled volume), implant shape (round or teardrop), incision location (around the areola, in the breast crease, or in the armpit), and implant placement (atop or beneath the pectoral muscle).

read more › After a woman has lost one or both of her breasts to breast cancer she can feel as if she has lost an important part of being a woman and her self-confidence can be affected. As a board member of Bright Pink and Susan G. Komen, Dr. Lin has a strong understanding of what his patients are going through when they first walk through the door. With extensive experience, you can trust you are in great hands from the initial consultation all the way through to the recovery period. Dr. Lin reconstructs patient breasts with three different techniques which are outlined below.

The point is you're now at a healthy, happy weight. Body contouring with Dr. Lin may be the answer. Body contouring involves a series of surgeries that target the areas with sagging skin and tissue. Surgeries are combined whenever possible to make for easier recovery. When you lose a large amount of weight, particularly if you've held that weight for a long period of time, the skin usually won't return to the same degree of tautness it had before the weight gain.

read more › A tummy tuck or abdominoplasty, from Lin Plastic Surgery in Boston, is indicated in patients with loose and excessive skin following significant weight loss, multiple pregnancies or from protruding abdominal muscles that do not disappear with diet or exercise. It helps to shape and flatten the abdomen by removing excess skin and fat and tightening the abdominal wall muscles. A tummy tuck can provide a smaller waistline, firmer abs and flatter abdomen. A tummy tuck targets the stretched skin and possible separated muscles created by the localized weight gain of pregnancy, or from the gain and then subsequent loss of a good deal of weight.

read more › Liposuction can allow you to reach your ideal figure when diet and exercise fail to eliminate stubborn body fat. Liposuction is a procedure, for men and women in Boston, that removes fat deposits present under the skin from different parts of the body using a vacuum-suction cannula (a hollow pen-like instrument). Dr. Lin and his team understand that each patients journey to achieve their desired body shape is unique and are genuinely invested to ensure you receive exceptional results. Schedule your liposuction consultation in Boston to learn more about this life changing procedure.

read more › Over time, our skin changes as a result of aging, sun damage and several other factors, causing wrinkles, pigmentation and scarring to develop on our faces. Many patients unhappy with these changes seek cosmetic treatments to restore their appearance and maintain a beautiful, youthful and fresh face. These nonsurgical treatments safely and effectively enhance the appearance of the skin while still allowing patients to look like themselves.
